Most of you probably don't realize this, but the original purpose of bridesmaids was literally to protect the bride from attack or kidnapping during the ceremony, and even to act as decoys for evil spirits who might want to interrupt the service. These days, you've probably never seen any kind of assault like this because I don't think there's any villain or spirit that wants to take on a group of modern women. So more or less, they're here now just to try making the groomsmen look good. Speaking on their behalf, and not ours, I think they pulled it off.

So we know that [BRIDE] has a group of really beautiful bridesmaids here, and I'll add that these gals are a lot of fun, too. We've enjoyed getting to know them, and this alone tells you a lot about the kind of special person [BRIDE] is. But now, if [GROOM] will forgive me, I'd like to introduce you briefly to each of the groomsmen here today, which will give you some unfortunate insights into just who [GROOM] really is.
